Welcome to Routebeer. These terms describe what you can expect from us and what we expect from you when using the app. By creating an account or using Routebeer, you agree to them.
Who we are
Routebeer is a road-trip planning service. When we say "we" or "us," we mean Routebeer. When we say "you," we mean the person using the app. Routebeer is operated by Arc & Alder Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom — that's the legal entity behind the brand.
Your account
- You need to be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- You need a working email address. We send a sign-in code there, so it needs to be one you can actually access.
- You're responsible for keeping access to that email secure — anyone with access to it can sign in to your Routebeer account.
- You can have one personal account. Bots, scripts, and bulk signups aren't allowed.
Your content
Trips, stops, photos, notes — anything you put into Routebeer is yours. You own it. You give us a limited license to store and display your content as needed to provide the service — for example, showing your photos on your scrapbook, or rendering your trip route on a map. That's it. We don't claim ownership and we don't relicense your content to anyone else.
If you share a trip publicly (via a share link or by inviting a collaborator), the people you've shared with can see the relevant parts. Pretty obvious, but worth saying.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload content that infringes someone else's intellectual property.
- Upload content that's illegal, harassing, hateful, or sexually exploitative — especially involving minors.
- Spam other users via the invite or collaborator flows.
- Scrape, reverse-engineer, or rebuild Routebeer's curated POI library or other proprietary parts of the service.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or data.
- Use Routebeer to plan or coordinate anything illegal.
Violations may result in your content being removed and/or your account being terminated. We'll usually warn you first; we don't have to.
Our content
Routebeer's name, logo, design system, curated POI library, editorial trip blurbs, and software are all our intellectual property. You can use the app as intended; you can't copy our curated library or rebadge our app as your own.
Accuracy of information
Routebeer is an editorial guide, not a navigation system. Road conditions change. National parks close. Diners shut down. We do our best to keep the library current, but you should always check ahead before driving — especially for opening hours, access roads, and reservation requirements.
Trip times and distances are approximations from Mapbox's routing engine and don't account for traffic, weather, road closures, or your particular vehicle.
Disclaimers and liability
Routebeer is provided "as is." We don't promise it will be bug-free, available all the time, or perfectly suit your purpose. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — lost trips, missed reservations, wasted fuel, hurt feelings — arising from your use of the service.
Our total liability to you for any claim related to the service is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you've paid us in the previous twelve months, or (b) £100.
Some jurisdictions don't allow certain disclaimers or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Termination
You can stop using Routebeer any time. To delete your account and all the data we hold for you, go to Settings → Privacy → Delete account.
We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. We'll usually email you first; we don't have to.
Changes
If we make material changes to these terms, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and notify signed-in users via the app. Continued use after the change means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved in English courts.
